Barn swallows come to our yard quite a bit. I think
it's pleasing to see these guys dip and dive around the yard. I figure they are ridding
the yard of insects so I welcome them gladly. I have never really taken the time to
determine if they are nesting here or not but I don't believe so. There is a huge building
about two blocks from us that would give them ample locations for their nests. There is no
immediate water source for them but Puget Sound is about four miles from our yard and we
have a river flowing into it at that point. There is also a large clear cut nearby which is
bordered by an extensive stand of evergreens.
